Understanding the Collective Soul Through Art
Carl Jung said, "for all art intuitively apprehends coming changes in the collective unconsciousness" (Spiritual Problem of Modern Man). This is one of the reasons why psychology is confined under the sciences. We have a lot to learn about our selves, our society, and each other through artistic expression. There is "professional" artistic expression and there is any expression from individuals that comes from a deeper part of themselves. Whether you are building a house, creating a work of art, or putting together an entire course outline, you are engaging. It is this engaging that helps to produce the collective unconscious. Art points to our current social consciousness before other disciplines.
